Volunteering opportunity from The Survivors Trust
The Survivors Trust (TST) is the largest national umbrella agency for over 135 specialist rape, sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse support organisations throughout the UK and Ireland. The Survivors Trust Cymru, a small Wales national team, is now based in REDHOUSE. An important part of TST Cymru’s work involves campaigning for improved services, supporting local, regional and national delivery partners and statutory agencies, and raising awareness of rape and sexual abuse and the needs of victims in Wales.
Volunteer Helpline Operators CYMRU
We are currently recruiting volunteers to work as helpline operators on our Help and Support Line for our national Wales Team.
Volunteers must be able to commit to working a minimum of 2 hours a week for a minimum of one year.
In return we provide full comprehensive training, ongoing training, regular support and clinical supervision.
The successful candidates will have:
•Ability to empathise with people
•Good listening skills
•Ability to take difficult calls and situations
•Understand the importance of providing a Help and Support Line
•Commitment to The Survivors Trust aims and values
•Experience of working on a telephone helpline, or in a position offering advice and support (desirable but not essential)
•Welsh Speaking (not essential)
The helpline will be run remotely which means that volunteers can be based in their own home or at our Office in Merthyr Tydfil.
